Ambience

At Madsen, the setting is all part of the dining experience. With a modern, warm Scandinavian-brasserie feel the restaurant features pale wooden floors combined with white walls and a white Corian bar. A red bench runs the length of one wall. The clean, fresh lines carry through to the wooden tables, each one of them made to order. And what better to illuminate things than a classic of modern Danish interior design – legendary PH lamps by Poul Henningsen. The exterior terrace is in slate tile, set off with simple box plants.

Two build-in bookcases containing books on Scandinavian cooking, culture and novels give the restaurant a homely feel. Several new cookbooks on Scandinavian food has emerged and Madsen displays The Scandinavian Cookbook and The Nordic Diet by Trina Hahnemann as well as The Scandinavian Kitchen by Camilla Plum. All three books can also be purchased at the printed retail price.
